Sliding Puzzle

Sliding Puzzle
Play:  Small | Medium | Large
The sliding puzzle has been around for years. But I've always found it a really hard puzzle to complete. This game trains logical reasoning skills.

To begin, click the Medium link under the picture at left. This opens the game in a pop-up window.

As a kid, I used to break the numbers out and reset them to get the completed puzzle. With this game, all you have to do is click the Solve button to see the solution.

HOW TO PLAY. Click the "Scramble" button to mix up the numbers. The goal is to get all the tiles back in order, 1 through 15 (left to right on each row). Use the mouse to grab the tile you want to move, then drag it to the open square.

If you get close but decide to give up, click the "Solve" button to see the computer solve the puzzle step by step. It's fascinating to watch. And by watching the computer you might learn a trick or two on how to solve puzzles like this!
