Short term memory loss due to stroke

by Lori
(Phoenix, AZ, USA)

I had a brain hemorrage back in February and I have short-term memory loss. My question is how long will it take to get back my short-term memory with therapy?

Doug's Reply: The length of time required for short-term memory to return after a stroke varies greatly from individual to individual. The recovery period is affected by many factors especially severity of the vascular event and location in your brain where the stroke occurred.

It can take months to years to recover, and you may or may not regain all the memory power you once had. Your doctor should be able to give you a better idea of what the length and degree of your recovery will be.

Best of luck to you! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Regards,
Douglas
