Piano Bar is an online piano game that's both challenging and hilarious. Capture the heart of the beautiful girl with your amazing piano-playing, or watch her mock your feeble attempts.
To begin, click the Small, Medium, or Large link under the picture at left. This opens the game in a pop-up window. Similar Games: Air Typer, Alpha Attack, Typing Speed Test, Typing Tidepool |
Press the keys that correspond to the melodies of well-known piano bar songs, as the accompaniment plays in the background. Fill up her heart if you want her to ask for more!
Piano Bar even has a "free play" mode during which you can play whatever piano music you like or make up your own songs.
This game trains attention span and concentration as well as typing skills.
HOW TO PLAY. The notes of the song move from right to left on the musical "staff" (the five horizontal lines and four spaces that notes representing musical pitch are written on). Press the key displayed on the note as it passes between the vertical double-dashed lines on the left side of the score.
| You only have to play the melody line, one note at a time. The accompaniment plays automatically in the background.
The keys to use are: QWERTYU and ASDFGHJ on the left of the keyboard. To see more of the notes on the staff at one time, slide the Scale button to the left. |
The songs on your playlist are listed below. See if you can make it through them all.
Imagine - by John Lennon
The Water Is Wide - Traditional
Titanic - by Celine Dion
Against the Odds - by Phil Collins
Danny Boy - Traditional
At the end of each song, click the screen to go to the next song (or to the Menu if the lady wasn't impressed by your playing
).
There are two levels of difficulty: Easy and Normal. When you first start out, try the Easy mode. It might be harder than you think, even if you're a good typist.
THE RED HEART. To master this online piano game, you need to play the on-screen piano well. This is where the red heart at the top is important. You start each song with an empty heart. Fill it up by playing the song properly. You need to have the heart filled to a reasonable level by the end of the song in order to access the next song.
TECHNICAL NOTES. According to Romain Macre, the game's author, each song was recorded by him on his computer keyboard. Two separate tracks make up the accompaniment, and they were synchronized and processed for rhythm accuracy.
A third track of this online piano game is the melody line (the one that you play). That one was left as it is, without processing.
For ease of use, there are seven notes-only scales. This is like playing the piano using the white keys only. As a result, all the songs are in the key of C and do not allow alterations in the music.
Romain hopes that musicians as well as non-musicians will enjoy playing. As a non-musician, I certainly did!
