English 16
<< Back to Free Brain Games page

English 16 is a puzzle game that trains concentration and logical reasoning.

The object of English 16 is to transpose the positions of the gold and silver pieces in the fewest number of moves.

HOW TO PLAY.  Click on a piece to move it into a vacant square. A piece can either be moved to an adjacent vacant square, or jumped over an adjacent piece (of either color) to the vacant square. No diagonal moves or jumps are permitted.

The SOLVE button will initiate a search for a solution, then run the found solution.

To start over, click the RESTART button. To undo a move, click the UNDO button.

Note: The shortest known solution, discovered by the British puzzle expert H. E. Dudeney, consists of 46 moves.

Enjoy!
