My memory improvement journey is not over. Everything I discover I write about on this website. Think of this site as a tribute to those who are frustrated with their memory and jealous of all those other people who seem to be able to remember everything.
If you have any suggestions on how this website can be improved, please send me a message using the form below. Your comments come directly to me. I do not use your email address for any purpose other than receiving your comments and replying to you.
And after you've tried these methods yourself, let your friends, co-workers, teachers, and others know about this site. If you have any memory tips of your own you'd like to share, send them to me using the form above.About MeIf you are motivated to improve your memory, you and I are on the same journey. My name is Douglas, and I built this site to help people around the world who are unhappy with their memory as I once was. I received my bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mathematics from Tulane University (New Orleans, Louisiana, USA) in 1990. After an unsuccessful attempt at becoming a dentist, I ultimately decided to pursue a career in technical writing. I have over a decade of experience as a full-time technical writer in the computer industry and as a freelance writer. I was a good student in school but often struggled to remember the information. And as for remembering people's names - forget it! Eventually I became so frustrated with my memory that I decided to search for a solution. I knew there was no "magic pill". Otherwise everyone would be taking it (and I would have heard of it). But there had to be something I could do. The Journey Begins ...Surprise, surprise, it turns out I wasn't the first person ever to be frustrated by a poor memory. In the last 50 years there has been a lot of research done on memory, and a lot of books have been written about it. So I started reading and trying things out. What I learned is that forgetting is normal. Everyone forgets. But it is also true that some people are blessed with a naturally good memory. Several of my close friends are lucky like that. The rest of us, though, need to do something extra. God or nature did not bestow us with a great memory. So if we want a better memory, we have to invest some time in it. We have to work at it. As I discovered, the trick to improving your memory is actually three-fold: - Making diet and lifestyle changes
- Using memory techniques
- Brain training
This website talks about all of those - hopefully in a simple and direct way most people can understand. Clearing Away the ConfusionSo for all of you out there who think you have a bad memory, take heart! If you are willing to think a little bit outside the box, you can improve your memory so much that it will amaze you. Improve your diet and sleep. Start exercising. Get one of Harry Lorayne's books to learn memory techniques (or learn them from this website). Train your brain using the free brain games on this site. Be persistent - keep at it. Make these strategies into real, life-long habits. A powerful memory can change your life - at home, at work, in your social circle, everywhere. It is so worth the effort. So why did I build this site? Well, once I started learning so much about memory improvement, I realized I could help others who are frustrated with their bad memory. Building this site also helps me keep on track with my own memory improvement efforts. It has been a real win-win for both myself and my visitors.
