Bored learning English

by Ishan
(India)

I'm from india and preparing for MBA entrance test in my country. The entrance test involves a lot related to english and im poor at it. I find it hard to learn the meanings and other points. Feel really bored when I start learning it and not able to concentrate. So what shall I do to overcome it and improve my english?

Doug's Reply: It is very difficult to master another language if you are not motivated. You need to somehow find a way to make it more fun and interesting.

For example, do you know any native English speakers, or can you meet some? Perhaps having more conversations with them would help.

You might also try websites like Learn English Free Online ( http://www.learnenglish.de/ ), which provides free tools that can help make learning English more enjoyable.

There are also lots of games that can help with English vocabulary. For example, Spiderman Web of Words ( http://www.memory-improvement-tips.com/spiderman-web-words.html ) help you learn while having fun at the same time. You can also do English crossword puzzles (on paper, or online such as http://www.memory-improvement-tips.com/crossword.html) to learn culture and vocabulary.

The best way to learn any language is to immerse yourself in it. Since you probably don't have that option, at least look for more situations where you can actively practice your English skills.

Good luck!
