New Magnesium Vitamin Improves Memory May 06, 2010 |
| Hi, Here's my latest memory improvement tip. I hope you find it helpful! New Magnesium Vitamin Improves MemoryThat's good news! The bad news is that only the form of magnesium known as Magnesium-L-Threonate (MgT) has been shown to work, and it is not commercially available yet. Even though magnesium is an important nutrient for both body and brain function, half of all residents of industrialized countries have a magnesium deficiency. Researchers found that magnesium threonate, the form of magnesium created especially for this study, is able to cross into the brain much better than current over-the-counter magnesium vitamin pills. According to Dr. Guosong Liu, the leader of the study, the "...increased brain magnesium enhanced many different forms of learning and memory in both young and aged rats." So it seems this stuff really works. Until MgT is available for purchase, consider supplementing your diet with Magnesium Citrate vitamins. Magnesium Citrate is supposed to be the next-best choice because it is thought to absorb better than other available forms of magnesium. You can also get magnesium through your diet. Consume more whole grains, nuts, and dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach, broccoli, and kale. And be sure to keep an eye out for the MgT vitamin supplement. Hopefully it will come out some time this year. Reference: Slutsky et al. Enhancement of Learning and Memory by Elevating Brain Magnesium.
